so yesterday I almost caused a semi to crash into a family of 6 on the freeway...
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
and I ended up with some rim damage. Anyone know how to buff out aluminum? I'd hunt the forums but you guys are a lot more fun to talk to. Here's a pic of the worst of it

Dremel with polishing pad and aggressive polishing compound should do it (note this is just an opinion, I've never had to buff out aluminum) those scratches don't look deep at all.

Regarding your original post: allow me to offer a suggestion to help you heel-toe more safely. Don't think of heel-toeing as actually having to hit the brake with your toe and gas with your heel. However you need to orient your foot so you can accomplish throttle blipping while braking is fine. Since I've got kinda big feet, for me I usually brake with the ball of my foot and then hit the gas with the outside edge of my foot. I would practice with this before messing with larger pedals.

^This, I should've mentioned in my other comment that when I heel toe in my Mustang, I do a more roll over motion with the side of my foot, rather than a whole rotation of my foot.

Yes that's exactly what I've been doing except it backfired on me. I gave my experience as a word of caution to people who roll their foot onto the gas (I forgot to describe it as a roll of my foot for blipping).

I'm pretty sure you and I are talking about different things. Per your original post:
I like to drive with half my right foot on the gas and the other half on the brake so I can blip the throttle (yes, I belive myself to be the next Senna, heel-toeing while coming up to the apex of an on-ramp). The problem is I can't reach the gas pedal with my heel so I kind of ride it with the right half of my right foot and blip when I need to .
(Emphasis added by me)
This is not the driving style I'm suggesting.
The only time I have my foot on more than one pedal is while I'm in the act of heel-toeing. The rest of the time I always have my foot on only one pedal. Usually the gas.
When it comes time to brake, if I don't plan to downshift, I take my foot completely off the gas and hit the brake pedal straight on. If I do plan to downshift, then take my foot completely off the gas, and I angle my foot on the brake so I can also blip the throttle.
Which is very different from what you were describing. Unless you were just describing it wrong.

Yeah you're right, the way I wrote it is kind of misleading. I don't ride the gas pedal but I do place my foot over the gas in anticipation of the blip while beginning to brake. You're also right in saying that an initiate blip followed by complete removal of right foot is good practice. The only reason I haven't been doing that is it definitely requires a lot more dexterity and timing, which I don't seem to have yet.

aww thank you! *blushes*
From my posting experience, throw up a red car, and say something that makes you seem like an idiot so people will come yell their opinion at you. People love telling you that you're doing it wrong. Works 80% of the time, every time.
